In the March 1955 issue, MAN reported; "Toughest stunt pattern in America is the Mirror Flying Fair in New York. The winning plane must be tops. This is that ship." This plane, designed by Harold "Red" Reinhardt at age 22, was built just to prove that flying wings can fly precision stunt and to try out a few other pet theories. One of the biggest troubles was the tendency to stall, which to overcome a balanced elevator was employed. Another trouble was insufficient wing area on most ships, which made them wide turning and too fast for stunt, The resulting Stunt Wing flies well in the wind, is smooth and stable, and is not too fast for competition. Construction is quite simple following the step-by-step procedures. The BMJR Stunt Wing has a span of 47 ½" and an area of 596 sq, in. 1st prototype with a OS35, silk covering a dope finish came in at 37 oz. The 2nd model with Fox 35, Polyspan and Klass-Kote epoxy has a flying weight of 33 1/2 oz.

Stuntwing BMJR Kit
In all, a well packaged and presented Kit from BMJR. My 4th kit purchased through Wights Models and an interesting build. Quality of the materials was excellent although I didn't use the Thread supplied for the elevator hinging. Some of the American terms used in the building instructions are a little hard to understand but the model turned out OK and when I learn to fly without the inevitable Hard Landing I will be very interested in how hard this Stuntwing Stunts. Looks decidedly different and well worth the purchase price.
